What is your name and where do you live?

CL:  My name is Cheryl Lemon. I live in Santa Cruz, California. I love living where the mountains and sea are close to my doorstep.

How did you get started in mobile photography? What device do you use?

CL:  My first smart phone, an iPhone, was a gift, about 4 years ago. I wasn't sure I wanted it, but then was quickly enamored by the camera feature. It was so easy to just whip it out, whenever, wherever, so I found myself, like many, spending more time taking pictures with my phone than talking on it! Then I discovered photo apps, and needless to say, that opened up a whole other world. I've only had iPhones, and currently have an iPhone 6. Previously I'd used a variety of point and shoot cameras, primarily to take photos of my family.

Featured iPhone Photographer Andyskeptik

What is your name & where do you live?

Andyskeptik:  My name is Andyskeptik. I'm a photographer and artist and at the moment I am living in Spain about 2 hours from Barcelona although I'm originally from London.

While contacting you about this interview I found out that you shoot with both DSLR & a mobile phone. How did you get started in mobile photography? What devise do you use?

Andyskeptik:  I am quite late getting into mobile photography but I've been using digital cameras for well over ten years and have had a DSLR for at least seven of those. I've always loved photography and editing with computers and software, primarily Photoshop. I was a web graphics designer for a long time which included a lot of photograph enhancement, manipulation and touching up. I bought a smartphone a little over a year ago and was instantly hooked. After discovering Instagram and VSCO, I realized mobile photography was the future and after recently upgrading to an iPhone 5s. I haven't looked back.

Julie Gebhardt - Capturing Urban Beauty with an iPhone

© Julie Gebhardt
What is your name and where do you live?

JG:  Julie Gebhardt - San Francisco Bay Area, California USA

How did you get started in mobile photography? What device do you use?

JG:  I began taking photos in response to learning about Instagram through an article I read on the New York Times. Previously, I used a point and shoot camera for family snapshots. The ease of shooting with the iPhone, and the fact that it’s always with me, led me to begin this habit of shooting and sharing my city. I  started with the first generation iPhone, and am now using iPhone 6. I shoot and edit mainly in the Camera+ app on the iPhone.
